πŸ—οΈCreating Your Pool

The Foundation Building a Strong Base for Your Pool

Before creating your pool, it's essential to dive into our documentation and gain a firm grasp of your pool's objectives. Prospective investors are looking for a pool that aligns with their risk tolerance and investment goals. As you prepare to create your pool, carefully consider the risk profile of the assets you plan to manage within the pool, as well as the sectors to which these assets belong. This thoughtful approach will enable you to cater to the preferences of your target investors.

Deploying Your Pool On-Chain Bringing Your Pool to the Blockchain

Pools are custom smart contracts residing on the blockchain. The first step in establishing your pool involves creating this smart contract. Once you've determined the direction you want your pool to take, head to the pool creation page. Here, you will input all the on-chain data related to your pool, keeping in mind that this data is IMMUTABLE (cannot be changed once set) on the blockchain. The data you'll need to provide includes:

  • Pool Name: Often the first thing potential investors see, so it should reflect your pool's purpose and function, attracting your target audience.

  • Pool Symbol: Pool shares are represented by pool tokens, so create a concise, memorable symbol or ticker for your pool token.

  • Pool Fee: This is the percentage fee you'll earn from each deposit and withdrawal to and from your pool, applied to the amount of ETH deposited or withdrawn by a user.

  • Referral Code: This is the code provided by the Amplifier, if you were recruited by one. Please ensure you select the correct name as this is important to help people get paid for the hard work they put in. If you were not recruited by an Amplifier please select "Not Referred"

Once you're done click "Create Pool". Your pool is now deployed on the blockchain! Next step is to change your settings and launch your pool.

Changing your Settings and Launching Your Pool Boosting Your Pool's Visibility and Appeal

In order to launch your pool, you'll need to tweak a few settings before hand. Go to your pool page and select "Settings" from the "Manage Pool" Dropdown. Note the dropdown is only visible if you are connected to the dapp with the wallet that owns the pool (the one you created it with).

This will take you to the Settings Page. Here there are some fields that need to be filled out and some that are optional.

Mandatory

  • Minimum Amount Per Deposit: The minimum amount in ETH that a single investor can deposit in one transaction. Be mindful that as the asset manager, you will need to pay gas to process deposits, whilst there are tips for managing this in the "Managing Your Pool" section. It's a good idea to set the minimum high enough to cover the cost. Whilst this will vary if you have a pool fee of 10% then it is suggested this is no lower than 0.1 ETH.

  • Maximum Amount Per Deposit: The maximum amount in ETH that a single investor can deposit in one transaction. If there is high demand for your pool you may want to limit the most that a single investor can deposit, in order to allow for a more distributed base of investors. If you do not want to set a maximum, simply enter a larger number (such as 1000), to ensure the limit is not hit.

  • Maximum Value of Pending Deposits: The maximum value in ETH of deposits that can be queued up at once for your pool. It may be that you are trading in smaller cap assets and want to limit the capital you are managing to prevent diminishing returns from price impact. If so, you can set the maximum value of deposits that your pool can have queued up at any one time. If you do not want to set a maximum, simply enter a larger number (such as 1000), to ensure the limit is not hit.

  • Change the Deposit Acceptance: Sets your pool to Enable or Disable accepting deposits. If "Enable" is selected, investors will be able to submit deposit requests. If "Disable" is selected, investors will not be able to submit deposit requests, essentially closing your pool to new investment.

Once these values are set you can press "Save Settings" and your pool will be live and accepting deposits. However if you'd like to expand your branding and presence on Yield Magnet there are a few more settings you can modify.

Optional

  • Pool Description: Your pool description should provide a brief overview of the type of assets your pool will focus on. Additionally, add a personal touch to your pool page to entice people to join your pool community.

  • Status: Displays as a banner on the top of your pool. You can add what you want here but a good use is to put whether or not you are accepting deposits in the banner so investors can see it clearly.

  • Social Media Links: These links should direct pool members or potential investors to announcement pages or group chats for your pool. Your personal social media can be seen on your user page, so the social media links on your pool page should be exclusively for your pool.

  • Website: Add a custom website for your brand and business. Perhaps you are an established asset manager with an existing presence, if show you'll want to be able to direct prospective users to a custom website to showcase all of your research, performance and more.

Yield Magnet, as a community-driven investment platform, encourages the cultivation of a community around your pool. A pool's community not only provides a lively and engaging space to connect with others but also serves a practical purpose, contributing to your pool's expansion. Community members can represent your pool, boosting its visibility and assist in marketing it to new investors. Cultivating such a community is an invaluable aspect of the Yield Magnet experience!
